The Opportunity Pre-School (TOPS) was founded in 1984 and is a New York State approved and funded program. This school is a not-for-profit, language-based Pre-School, Early Intervention, and Related Service Provider for children between the ages of 2-5-years. We are an accredited Evaluation site for children birth through age 5. TOPS offers Regular Education Services in Integrated and Regular Education classes. Our large and spacious classrooms provide a nurturing environment for easy learning and are decorated with very bright, cheerful, educational posters and projects made by the children. Our curriculum includes, but not limited to: reading readiness, technology, sensory centers, math awareness, science exploration, social studies and the creative arts and movement. We have large fenced in play areas and access to the indoor gymnasium. The teachers and staff have a clear understanding of the need for structure and good management skills. Providing children with the appropriate learning materials can motivate and spark the child and incorporate the different learning styles each may have. Our federally funded enrichment programs include gym, music, art, social skills, yoga, and handwriting programs. The staff possesses the appropriate New York State Education Department (NYSED), Department of Health (DOH), and Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) certifications and each staff member has been fingerprinted and has had a background check performed, prior to employment, through the State Central Register for Child Abuse and Maltreatment. Each staff member is required to maintain continuing education as per OCFS and NYSED. We follow the current guidelines of OCFS, NYSED and the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) regarding COVID-19 protocol.
